I have had challenging eye health and vision all my life. I have worn high prescription glasses since childhood and in my 20s had RK (radial keratotomy in the 80s which is similar to LASIK today). In 1994, I had a detached retina in my right eye, and never regained vision in that eye with very little light coming through it to date. My left retina also detached in 1997, and vision in this eye was able to be saved with an emergency surgery.

I have been living for many years this way, and started having corneal problems in 2006. I tried different contact lenses and glasses, and currently wear a scleral lens in my left eye. I discovered I had macular degeneration in my left eye in 2011, and have since then been getting shots in that eye every 4-6 weeks. All while my vision had been slowly declining during this time. I lost my driver's license in 2019 which was hard, especially considering I was a professional driver my entire life. Upon attempting to retire, we came to Scottsdale, Arizona in the winter of 2023. 

In January 2024, we found Dr. Nick Shah. Initially my wife started going to see him weekly. We were so impressed with Dr. Nick’s knowledge and attention to detail, that I started going to see him along with my wife. He did some further research about my condition and I started my naturopathic treatment (acupuncture, IV therapy, supplementation, and clean eating). It has been about 4 months now, and everyday I am eating healthier, exercising and walking more, and feel a lot better. I also lost some weight which is great, icing on the cake. But on top of that, the most important reason for all this is my vision. I feel like we were able to stop the progressive vision loss, and that I’m even seeing things a little better in certain ways. 

This experience has since made me a believer in the integrative and natural treatment methods, and I plan to continue going to Dr. Nick for many years. I understand I'll never get full vision back, but the IV therapy has made a huge difference. Many of the symptoms associated with my condition have subsided, and my vision will hopefully continue to improve.

Dr. Nick has been the most caring naturopathic doctor, and he is the only one I'll ever go see. I just can't say enough about the guy, how caring he is, and how he interviews you every time you go into the office. Unlike most other doctors I’ve been to, he wants to hear everything that's going on with your health and is probably the first doctor that has answered all my questions. Your vitals and blood pressure are taken at each appointment, and the clinic staff is very thorough with your care.
